Waves is announcing a new reference design for LCD TVs that gives manufacturers a simple route to dramatically improve the audio quality in their LCD TV products. While the new flat panel TV display picture quality is superb, the audio quality in many current models is not as good as the lower cost, commodity CRT TV models. This is primarily due to the small loudspeaker enclosure volumes in LCD TVs. LCD manufacturers have realized that this audio performance gap is increasingly becoming an issue for consumers as these become mainstream products. You can read the story about this announcement at the EE Times web site.
Sound.org, the new publishing company created by the founders of Waves, will be announcing that its first book and interactive tutorial is already available. Production – Mixing – Mastering with Waves by Anthony Egizii teaches users how to master the tools that shape the sound of hit songs in various contemporary musical styles, including R&B, Rock/Alternative, Dance, Country, and Urban. The 184-page book includes seven CDs consisting of full-blown multitrack DAW sessions for use on a PC or Macintosh and provides an interactive training course on how to master signal processing techniques and learn the tricks for professional music production.
After show, we are going to be focusing on getting editorial reviews of this and other books to follow. We have several very interesting titles in the pipeline and look forward to getting this new and exciting company off the ground.
