The Role of the Media Advisory

Upon learning about the resignation of FCC Chairman, Michael Powell, we immediately released a media advisory on behalf of our client, Pulver.com commenting on Mr. Powell’s role in this position.  Within 15 minutes of issuing the advisory, I received a phone call from Investor’s Business Daily.  15 minutes later, the journalist was on the phone with our client getting his comments and observations.  We also were able to gain coverage with a related story in InformationWeek magazine.

Advisories are not news releases;  they are an advisory to the media saying that you have news related to a news event, trend, or related story that is in the media that day.

Advisories are also a great way to tie your thought leadership into news of the day.
