Our client, Discretix, was part of a trends story in this week’s EE Times on mobile encryption. We knew there was a feature coming out at this time based on an editorial calendar search. I was involved in this pitch partially because I knew the writer, and also because I knew that most of our staff was going to be with their families during the Christmas break when the pitch needed to be made.
I made the pitch and coordinated the interview while in Costa Rica on vacation. Yes, it was Christmas time, but even here at the Ranch (or in this case, the Ranch in Costa Rica, we sometimes get called to action (or pursue opportunities) when the opportnities arise.
The lesson here: don’t underestimate found opportunities like these. Timing can be everything.
