How Not To Pitch – or Make An “Ask…”

This is not a good way to pitch, or reach out for an “ask.

Sorry, but you don't have permission to barge in like this... with anyone.... readch out first, ask permission, and thank the person who you are asking for help....

1. Sending requests to do something through Facebook messenger is just plain dumb. Maybe it’s old school, but I really prefer and actully respond better with email. That’s me. Oh… you don’t have permission to barge in this way…

2. Asking me to please send their press release to the Israeli media is nice and all, but newsflash – I don’t speak or write Hebrew. Lesson: do your homework.

3. This person assumed I was going to stop in my tracks and take this one for them.

It’s ok to ask, but if you are going to reach out through Facebook, maybe ask permission, ask the preferred method of outreach, and maybe, just maybe…. ask for a quick call to do an intro, do a high level briefing, or ask for some advise on how to do it yourself.

Rant over:)
