September 9, Austin-based Capital Factory will be video streaming an event live from their website so if you are somewhere other than Austin, you can tune in remotely for all the startup presentations!
Here’s the gist: there are more and more “incubator” type programs (Y Combinator, Tech Stars, etc.) for startups these days, particularly as the traditional funding/seeding path (VCs) has changed up so much. Austin entered the mix last May with Capital Factory, its own early stage incubator, and has grown 5 selected tech companies (out of more than 200 applicants) all summer (Cubit Planning; Famigo; HourVille; PetsMD.com, and SpareFoot) – all very different and innovative, w/ much promise for the future! Following 10 weeks of hard work and $20,000 seed money, and more than $20,000 free services/support and mentorship, the 5 companies will be officially demonstrating/launching their business concepts at the Capital Factory Demo Day, again on Wed., Sept 9 at the UT AT&T conference center in Austin.
The goal for Demo Day is to have the companies present in front of potential future investors, supporters and partners, as well as media. Beyond 8 minute demonstrations by the 5 companies, the day’s agenda, running from 8:30 am to 2 pm, will also feature a kick off by Mike Maples, Jr, Austin tech exec success story and managing partner of Maples Investments, and will end with a VC panel, “What’s it Take Today to Build a Super Startup?”.
WHEN: Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
WHERE: AT&T Conference Center on the University of Texas campus
1900 University Avenue
Austin, Texas 78705
