Aaron Does Videonconferencing With Apple’s iSight

My 18 year old, Aaron, recently asked me for an Apple iSight for his iBook.  It came in on Friday and within 5 minutes of opening the box, it worked right away.  And there was no software to install.

I was really impressed with the quality of the video.  He can now do video conferences with his freinds from around the U.S.  He’s going to college in Israel this fall, so hopefully, we’ll be able to visit via this medium.

Even if the receiving end does not have an iSite, they can still see Aaron (and his friends, his room, his family) through AOL’s free InstantMessenger.

Priced at $149.00, like all Apple products, it’s well designed, elegant, and simple to use.

  1. Alan,
    FYI, it’s iSight, not iSite.
I love my iSight and use it mostly to keep in touch with some friends who moved to Utah. Unfortunately, the AOL Instant Messenger integration isn’t as good as it could be, because on the AIM side the video is tiny and the quality isn’t good.
For relatives who don’t have video cameras, I also use EvoCam:

It allows anyone with a web browser to view the video from the iSight. No AIM client or anything else needed.
